The care and welfare of our doves is paramount. The birds are free to come and go as they please which encourages their natural ability to home.

Our birds are lovingly raised from chick through to adulthood and only ever fed high quality seed.

The doves carry our telephone number in a discreet leg ring, so in the unlikely event that any of our birds struggle to find their way home, they can be easily identified and swift arrangements made for their safe return.

 

Most importantly we can prove all our doves and dovecotes are checked every year by a local vet and passed for a clean bill of health.

Unlike some doves, ours are not inbred in order to produce a pure white bird. At Durham Doves we use different breeding lines; birds are all totally unrelated to produce happy, healthy birds that will find their way home from many miles away with relative ease.

At Durham Doves many months and years are invested in our birds' welfare, education and breeding, so that when released our birds will return safely home.
